Vending machine bike repair station & charging lockers

Service point

Recently, a service point for walkers and cyclists was installed at Visitor Center De Wissen. This service point includes a vending machine where passersby can purchase items such as hiking and cycling maps, inner tubes, a bike repair kit, energy bars and drinks, and practical products like sunscreen or a first aid kit. Thanks to this machine, tourists have access to essential information even outside of regular opening hours. The service point also features a repair station with a bike pump and tools.

Cyclists can now get assistance even when bike shops are closed. Additionally, visitors can charge their bike battery or smartphone in the locker next to the vending machine.

The Flemish Minister of Tourism stated: "As a gateway to the RivierPark Maasvallei, the visitor center serves as a starting point for various cycling and walking routes in this beautiful and diverse region. With the new picnic area, the city of Dilsen-Stokkem, supported by Visit Flanders, is further enhancing it as a meeting place. Visitors can engage with the landscape and fully experience the surrounding nature. The accompanying service point provides additional convenience to visitors, even when the Visitor Center is closed. This makes the picturesque Maasvillages and the river landscape in this park even more accessible for exploration."

The picnic area is located between the parking lot and the visitor center and consists of four picnic tables, with accessibility in mind for wheelchair users.

Additionally, children can enjoy playing in the three play huts made from willow branches, which have been placed in the garden.

The city of Dilsen-Stokkem received financial support from Visit Flanders for this project.
